Relation between Lifespan Polytrauma Typologies and Post-Trauma Mental Health

Emotionally laden impulsivity interacts with affect in predicting addictive use of online sexual activity in men
The interest in studying addictive use of online sexual activities (OSA) has grown sharply over the last decade. Despite the burgeoning number of studies conceptualizing the excessive use of OSA as an addictive disorder, few have tested its relations to impulsivity, which is known to constitute a hallmark of addictive behaviors. To address this missing gap in the literature, we tested the relationships between addictive OSA use, impulsivity traits, and affect among a convenience sample of men (N = 182; age, M = 29.17), building upon a theoretically driven model that distinguishes the various facets of impulsivity. Stealing behavior and impulsivity in individuals with kleptomania who have been arrested for shoplifting

Illness perceptions and adherence in bipolar disorder: an exploratory study
According to the Self-Regulation Model, illness perceptions influence an individual ’s coping (such as the taking of treatment) and emotional response to their illness. Emerging research suggests that this model could be used to explore illness perceptions in mental health. The aim of this exploratory study is, firstly, to measure and describe illness perception in French patient s with a bipolar diagnosis and, secondly, to explore associations between illness perceptions and adherence in this population. Risk factors for amyloid positivity in older people reporting significant memory concern
The goal of this study is to identify risk factors for the presence of amyloid accumulation in the brains of patients reporting subjective cognitive decline (SCD). Identifying such risk factors will help better identify patients who ought to receive neuroimaging studies to confirm plaque presence and begin intervention, as well as enhancing the study of the pathogenesis of Alzheimer ’s disease. Towards a psychopathology specific to Substance Use Disorder: Should emotional responses to life events be included?
The severity of emotional responses to life events (PTSD spectrum) as part of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) in Substance Use Disorder (SUD) patients has often been considered from a unitary perspective. Light has also been shed on the possible definition of a specific psychopathology of SUD patients. This psychopathology has been proved to be independent of treatment choice, of being active in using substances, of lifetime psychiatric comorbidity and primary substance of abuse (heroin, alcohol, cocaine). Avoidant Personality Disorder and Social Phobia: does mindreading make the difference?
Avoidant personality disorder (AvPD) is closely related to and partially overlaps with social phobia (SP). There is an ongoing debate as to whether AvPD and SP can be classified as separate and distinct disorders or whether these diagnoses rather reflect different degrees of severity of social anxiety. The hypothesis of this study is that in patients with AvPD and in those with AvPD and comorbid SP both interpersonal functioning and metacognitive abilities (the ability to understand mental states) are more severely impaired than they are in patients with SP only. Social connectedness, stressful life events, and self-injurious thoughts and behaviors among young adults
Preventing self-injurious thoughts and behaviors (SITBs) is particularly challenging on commuter campuses, given lower social cohesion and higher levels of stress than among traditional college populations. The present study examined the relationship between stressful life events (SLEs) and risk for different forms of SITBs, along with the potential buffering role of social connectedness, in a diverse sample of young adults from a commuter college.
