ConclusionsBeliefs about feeling different from other people, and a strong need to hide private thoughts and feelings to avoid social disapproval, may be particularly important for triggering a fear of blushing. Re ‐thinking over‐thinking pain: What can metacognition add to our understanding of pain catastrophising?
Pain catastrophising is one of the most widely studied psychological constructs in pain science, given its association with increased pain intensity, disability, emotional distress, psychopathology, and pain‐facilitating neurobiological changes in people with chronic pain.
