Dentists ’ restorative decision‐making and implications for an ‘amalgamless’ profession. Part 4: clinical factors
ConclusionsThere is consensus that amalgam is not more technically difficult to use, place or finish than resin composite and vice versa. There is recognition that both amalgam and resin composite have limitations in terms of physical properties. When choosing a direct restorative material, clinical factors considered to be of greatest importance are moisture control, aesthetics and the need to apply minimally invasive approaches. There is little difference in the opinions of users and non‐users of amalgam with respect to these findings. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved. Pre ‐eruptive intracoronal resorption in a third upper molar: clinical, tomographic and histological analysis
Abstract Radiolucent or hypodense lesions in the crown of unerupted teeth may be due to pre‐eruptive intracoronal resorption. Clinicians must be aware of this risk so that they can diagnose and appropriately treat this condition. The purpose of this study is to present a well‐documented clinical case of pre‐eruptive intracoronal resorption in an impacted third upper left molar of a 63 year old female patient. Azithromycin as an adjunct to non ‐surgical periodontal therapy: a systematic review
In conclusion, the current body of research on the adjunctive use of systemic azithromycin in non‐surgical periodontal therapy suggests there is a clinical benefit and that this benefit is greatest in deeper initial pockets (≥6 mm). The findings also suggest that future studies need to be more careful in subject selection to identify susceptible patients or at risk sites, both the immunoregulatory effects and antibiotic resistance of azithromycin needs to be reported, and that study populations need to be more homogeneous.
