Factors associated with employment status before and during pregnancy: Implications for studies of pregnancy outcomes
ConclusionsEmployment status was significantly associated with many common risk factors for adverse pregnancy outcomes. Pregnancy outcome studies should consider adjustment or stratification by employment status. In studies of occupational exposures, these differences may cause uncontrollable confounding if non‐employed women are treated as unexposed instead of excluded from analysis. Am. J. Ind. Estimation of occupational cosmic radiation exposure among airline personnel: Agreement between a job ‐exposure matrix, aggregate, and individual dose estimates
ConclusionsThe substantial disagreement between NOCCA‐JEM and individual dose estimates of cosmic radiation may lead to exposure misclassification and biased risk estimates in epidemiological studies. Using aggregate data may provide improved estimates. Am. J. Ind. Med. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. (Source: American Journal of Industrial Medicine)

Malignant mesothelioma due to asbestos exposure in dental tape
We report six cases of pathology‐verified malignant mesothelioma, mostly among dentists, following exposure to airborne dust from asbestos dental tape, which resulted in asbestos tort litigation. According to evidence available at present, chrysotile asbestos was the type of asbestos used in dental tape in the past in the United States, and the described cases followed relatively brief and intermittent exposure to this type of asbestos. These cases underscore the need for comprehensive exposure histories to determine exposure scenarios. Am. J. Ind. Med. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc . Risk factors for malignant mesothelioma in people with no known exposure to asbestos
ConclusionsBecause of its extensive use, few people in WA have never been exposed to asbestos. Unrecognized exposure may cause most MM cases initially regarded as “no exposure.” Am. J. Ind. Med. 9999:1–5, © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. (Source: American Journal of Industrial Medicine)
