Association between muscle strength, histopathology, and magnetic resonance imaging in sporadic inclusion body myositis
ConclusionsOur study could not provide an answer to the question which comes first, the inflammation or the degenerative changes. (Source: Acta Neurologica Scandinavica)

Cerebral small vessel disease and systemic arteriopathy in intracranial arterial dolichoectasia patients
ConclusionsOur study confirms the high prevalence of cerebral SVD in IADE. The involvement of the brain ‐supplying arteries is probably part of a systemic arteriopathy in IADE patients, thus suggesting the usefulness of assessing the whole arterial tree in clinical practice. Cognitive deterioration signs are frequent in these patients. (Source: Acta Neurologica Scandinavica)

Movement disorders associated with neuronal antibodies
Movement disorders are one of the common clinical features of neurological disease associated with neuronal antibodies which is a group of potentially reversible disorder. They can present with hypokinetic or hyperkinetic types of involuntary movements and may have other associated neurological symptoms. The spectrum of abnormal movements associated with neuronal antibodies is widening. Some specific phenomenology of movement disorders are likely to give clue about the type of antibody, for instance, presence of paroxysmal dystonia (facio ‐brachial dystonic seizures) are a pointer toward presence of LGI‐1 antibodies, a...

Non ‐invasive ventilation and hypercapnia‐associated symptoms in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis
ConclusionsOur data show that NIV improves hypercapnia ‐associated symptoms within the first 3 months after initiation in spinal as well as bulbar patients, and that beneficial effects are long‐lasting. This article is protected by copyright. Association of survival and hyperthermia after rt ‐PA for ischemic stroke
ConclusionsHyperthermia within 3  days after rt‐PA is associated with poor functional prognosis and survival outcome in patients with acute cerebral infarction. (Source: Acta Neurologica Scandinavica)

Optical coherence tomography in acute optic neuritis: A population ‐based study
ConclusionsOptic neuritis causes substantial retinal damage and vision loss independent of the underlying disease. Our study supports that GCIP damage starts closely to clinical onset. Good structure ‐function correlations between OCT and vision support the importance of OCT in monitoring acute ON. (Source: Acta Neurologica Scandinavica)

“Time is Brain”—How early should surgery be done in drug‐resistant TLE?
Conclusions“Epilepsy duration” independently predicted both short‐ and long‐term seizure outcome after surgery in TLE. “Lost years” translate into poor seizure outcome after ATL. Therefore, all cases of drug‐resistant TLE should be referred to a surgical center at the earliest. (Source: Acta Neurologica Scandinavica)

Hyposmia in a simple smell test is associated with accelerated cognitive decline in early Parkinson's disease
ConclusionsThe decline of cognitive function in early PD is more rapid in patients with hyposmia at diagnosis, compared to normosmic ones. A simple smell test may contribute to identify patients at risk of accelerated decline in global cognition, verbal memory, and processing speed within the first 7  years from diagnosis. Effects of multidisciplinary therapy on physical function in Huntington's disease
ConclusionOur findings suggest that outpatient multidisciplinary therapy has positive effects on manual dexterity and muscle strength, but no meaningful effects on mobility, balance, cardiorespiratory endurance and upper extremity muscle strength in patients with HD. Larger randomized controlled trials are needed to confirm these preliminary findings. (Source: Acta Neurologica Scandinavica)

Long ‐term progression of white matter hyperintensities in ischemic stroke
ConclusionsAge and marked WMH at index stroke, but not stroke subtype, predicted long ‐term WMH progression after ischemic stroke before 70 years of age, whereas age and hypertension predicted acquisition of marked WMH in those with no or only mild WMH at baseline. Lifestyle factors and disease ‐specific differences in subgroups of Swedish Myasthenia Gravis
ConclusionsIt is important to consider disease ‐specific differences when tailoring the management of individual MG patients. There is a need for improved knowledge on how to apply primary and secondary prevention measures to lifestyle disorders in MG patients without risk of deterioration.
