Total prostatectomy as a treatment for prostatic carcinoma in 25 dogs
Conclusion and Clinical SignificanceTotal prostatectomy, combined with adjunct therapies, prolongs survival and lowers complication rates compared to previous reports of dogs with prostatic carcinoma. It should be noted, however, that case selection likely played a significant role in postoperative outcome. (Source: Veterinary Surgery)

Prosthetic mesh repair of abdominal wall hernias in horses
Abstract Repair of hernias of the abdominal wall of horses is often augmented by inserting a prosthetic mesh. In this review, we describe the various characteristics of prosthetic meshes used for hernia repair and present 2 systems that are used by surgeons in the human medical field to classify techniques of prosthetic mesh herniorrhaphy. Both of these classification systems distinguish between onlay, inlay, sublay, and underlay placements of mesh, based on the location within the abdominal wall in which the prosthetic mesh is inserted. We separate the published techniques of prosthetic mesh herniorrhaphy of horses using ...

Radiographic, computed tomographic, and arthroscopic diagnosis of radioulnar incongruence in dogs with medial coronoid disease
ConclusionCT and arthroscopy provided similar detection of MCD and cartilage disease but disagreed in the assessment and localization of RUI. Clinical significanceCT does not reliably predict arthroscopic assessment of RUI and associated treatment decisions for MCD. (Source: Veterinary Surgery)

Influence of radiographic techniques on the measurement of femoral anteversion angles and a conformation score of pelvic limbs in Labrador retrievers
Conclusiona‐FAA correlated strongly with t‐FAA and improved the repeatability of CCLD scores within and between investigators. Clinical significanceA craniocaudal angled beam projection of the femur is a suitable alternative to a ventrodorsal pelvic radiograph when measuring FAA and may improve the repeatability and positive predictive value of CCLD scores. Use of a modified Boari flap for the treatment of a proximal ureteral obstruction in a cat
ConclusionThe tubularized bladder flap originally described by Boari was modified to create a tension‐free ureteroneocystostomy, without complication. This technique relied on surrounding native tissues and resulted in long‐term resolution of the ureteral obstruction. Clinical significanceA modified Boari flap can lead to long‐term resolution of proximal ureteral obstruction in cats, without requiring stents or permanent implants. (Source: Veterinary Surgery)
