Stent Angulation and Implantation in the Ductus Arteriosus of a Low-Weight Neonate
We report the case of a neonate with ductus-dependent cyanotic congenital heart disease treated by stenting in the ductusarteriosus. A physician-modified stent angulation enabled the advance of the stent from the aorta to the ductus arteriosu and its subsequent implantation. (Source: Revista Brasileira de Cardiologia Invasiva)

Treatment with the Double Guiding Catheter Technique for Type III Coronary Perforation
We present a case of percutaneous coronary intervention complicated by coronary perforation, which was quickly treated by the reversal of anticoagulation, prolonged balloon inflation and a coated-stent, using the double guiding catheter technique. Renal Sympathetic Denervation: a New Catheter in a New Scenario
We report the first case of RSD performed in Brazil in a patient with Chagas’ disease and refractory arrhythmia, treated by the EnligHTN® multi-electrode catheter. (Source: Revista Brasileira de Cardiologia Invasiva)

Percutaneous Sympathetic Renal Denervation
The objective of this review was to gather evidence on the use of RSD in the control of resistant hypertension and describe technical aspects and perspectives of the procedure. (Source: Revista Brasileira de Cardiologia Invasiva)

Percutaneous Closure of Ostium Secundum Atrial Septal Defect Using the Memopart™ Occlusion Device
Conclusions The percutaneous closure of ASD using a Memopart™ device is an effective and safe procedure within the limits of this investigation. The device is user-friendly and has a high rate of immediate occlusion, even in large defects. (Source: Revista Brasileira de Cardiologia Invasiva)

Porcine Model for the Evaluation and Development of Catheter-Based Coronary Devices: an Essential Preclinical Tool
Conclusions The experimental percutaneous porcine model proved to be reproducible with similar outcomes and low mortality for the different devices tested and is an essential tool for the evaluation of new coronary devices. (Source: Revista Brasileira de Cardiologia Invasiva)

Percutaneous Coronary Intervention Using the Radial and Femoral Approaches: Comparison between Procedure-Related Discomforts and Costs
Conclusions PCI using the radial approach demonstrated to provide greater comfort for patients when compared to the femoral approach during hospitalization. Costs of the procedure using the two accesses were similar. (Source: Revista Brasileira de Cardiologia Invasiva)

Use of Myocardial Fractional Flow Reserve to Identify Predictors of Poor Prognosis after Percutaneous Coronary Interventions
Conclusions The only predictor of a FFR <0.90 after PCI was the treatment of the left anterior descending artery. (Source: Revista Brasileira de Cardiologia Invasiva)

Clinical Outcome of Diabetic Patients Treated by Percutaneous Coronary Intervention Using Drug-Eluting and Bare Metal Stents
Conclusions In non-selected diabetic patients the long-term clinical outcome was worse for patients treated with BMS. After adjusting for confounding variables, the use of DES was not an independent predictor of reduced MACE. (Source: Revista Brasileira de Cardiologia Invasiva)

Percutaneous Coronary Intervention for Unprotected Left Main Coronary Artery Lesions
Conclusions PCI in unprotected LM lesions, guided by IVUS and/or FFR whenever possible, is safe and effective in the short and long-term, in the experience of a hospital with a moderate number of PCI procedures. (Source: Revista Brasileira de Cardiologia Invasiva)

Impact of Acute Renal Failure on In-Hospital Outcomes Following Percutaneous Treatment of Acute Myocardial Infarction
Conclusions Acute renal failure after PCI in STEMI was a frequent complication and was associated with increased in-hospital mortality. (Source: Revista Brasileira de Cardiologia Invasiva)

Stent Implantation With or Without Pre-Dilation in Non-ST-Segment-Elevation Acute Coronary Syndrome Patients
Conclusions In this series of NSTE ACS patients, direct stenting was not associated with better angiographic or clinical outcomes. However, lesion complexity remains a determinant factor in the choice of the pre-dilation strategy in daily practice. (Source: Revista Brasileira de Cardiologia Invasiva)

Changes in Coronary Angulation After Bioresorbable Vascular Scaffold and Cobalt-Chromium and Stainless Steel Stent Implantation
Conclusions In this preliminary assessment, the BVS produced a smaller coronary angulation change. The clinical impact of this finding must be prospectively investigated in a larger and more complex cohort. (Source: Revista Brasileira de Cardiologia Invasiva)

Medium-Term Survival and Functional Status of Patients with Severe Aortic Valve Stenosis Undergoing Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation
Conclusions In this preliminary experience, the treatment of patients with AS and high or prohibitive surgical risk with TAVI, using the CoreValve™ self-expanding system was feasible and safe and led to sustained improvement of cardiac symptoms.
