Support Groups for Informal Caregivers of people with dementia: towards a communitarian helping ethos
This study reports a set of distinct Support Groups for Informal Caregivers that were implemented after the caregivers ’ participation in a psychoeducational program. Based upon a community intervention project implemented in North Portugal (Caring for the Caregiver Project), the study describes five support groups established in five different municipalities and assumed by local agents from the health and/or social sectors. Social representation of mothers about feeding and use of appetite stimulants in children: satisfaction, normality and power
This study aimed to identify the social representations elaborated by mothers about the appetite of children and the drugs used to modify this appetite. The qualitative approach used in this study employed as theoretical support the theory of social representations. Through interviews with 15 mothers who administered their children drugs to stimulate appetite, it was possible to identify a maternal dissatisfaction with the usual volume and selectivity of food eaten by their children. Physician's perception on attracting and retaining factors in remote and underserved areas: shortage route
This study investigated the main factors that attract and retain physicians in municipalities with shortage of physicians, composing the so-called "Shortage Routes"; 51 doctors in 10 routes covering the five regions of Brazil were in-depth interviewed.
