Detection of neuropathic pain in end ‐stage cancer patients: diagnostic accuracy of two questionnaires
ConclusionAt standard cutoff values, DN4 and PainDETECT tests, despite being translated to the patient's native language, failed to adequately discriminate between neuropathic and non‐neuropathic pain in our end stage cancer patients. This article is protected by copyright. Stimulation of the L2 –L3 Dorsal Root Ganglia Induces Effective Pain Relief in the Low Back
The objective of this report is to further investigate these clinical observations. MethodsTwelve patients with significant chronic discogenic low back pain due to FBSS were included. All subjects underwent implantation of DRG stimulation systems that had at least 1 lead placed at L2 or L3. Subjects’ pain ratings, mood, and quality of life were tracked prospectively for up to 12 months. ResultsMore than half of subjects reported 50% or better pain relief in the low back, and the average low back pain relief was 45.5% at 12 months. Concomitant reductions in overall pain, leg pain, pain interference, mood, and quality of l...

Intrathecal Drug Delivery Systems for the Management of Chronic Noncancer Pain: A Systematic Review of Economic Evaluations
ConclusionsStudy findings showed ITDD to be not cost effective only in extremely conservative scenarios. There is limited evidence on the effectiveness of ITDD in noncancer pain; however, the available economic evidence controverts arguments to refute the treatment on economic grounds.
