I just can't please them all and stay sane: Adult child caregivers ’ experiences of family dynamics in care‐giving for a parent with dementia in Australia
This study focussed on adult child caregivers. It examined the specific ways that family dynamics contribute to adult child caregivers’ distress in the context of caring for a parent with dementia. Semi‐structured interviews were conducted with 17 participants who were adult child primary caregivers for a parent with dementia who was living within the community. Interviews were audiotaped and transcribed verbatim. Transcripts were analysed using thematic analysis. Four themes were identified that represented areas of particular concern and distress for the caregivers: family expectations and caregivers’ lack of choic...

Perspectives of rural health and human service practitioners following suicide prevention training programme in Australia: A thematic analysis
Abstract There are well‐established training programmes available to support health and human services professionals working with people vulnerable to suicide. However, little is known about involving people with lived experience in the delivery of suicide prevention training with communities with increased rates of suicide. The aim of this paper was to report on a formative dialogical evaluation that explored the views of health and human services workers with regard to a suicide prevention training programme in regional (including rural and remote areas) South Australia which included meaningful involvement of a person...

A systematic review of components of community ‐based organisation engagement
Abstract Community‐based organisations (CBOs) are important for eliminating health disparities globally and translating research findings to inform interventions. Engagement is an integral part of partnerships between CBOs and community health researchers and impacts the quality and quantity of any desired outcome. Despite the acknowledged benefits of community‐based organisation engagement (CBOE), there are variations in its operationalisation and paucity in the understanding of its use in community‐scientific partnerships. To further understand CBOE, the aim of this study was to synthesise published literature rele...

Developing and utilising a new funding model for home ‐care services in New Zealand
Abstract Worldwide increases in the numbers of older people alongside an accompanying international policy incentive to support ageing‐in‐place have focussed the importance of home‐care services as an alternative to institutionalisation. Despite this, funding models that facilitate a responsive, flexible approach are lacking. Casemix provides one solution, but the transition from the well‐established hospital system to community has been problematic. This research seeks to develop a Casemix funding solution for home‐care services through meaningful client profile groups and supporting pathways. Unique assessments...

Informal caregivers ’ views on the division of responsibilities between themselves and professionals: A scoping review
Abstract This scoping review focuses on the views of informal caregivers regarding the division of care responsibilities between citizens, governments and professionals and the question of to what extent professionals take these views into account during collaboration with them. In Europe, the normative discourse on informal care has changed. Retreating governments and decreasing residential care increase the need to enhance the collaboration between informal caregivers and professionals. Professionals are assumed to adequately address the needs and wishes of informal caregivers, but little is known about informal caregive...

Stepping Stones to Resiliency following a community ‐based two‐generation Canadian preschool programme
Abstract Early intervention programmes are designed to address complex inequities for Canadian families living with low income, affecting social relationships, well‐being and mental health. However, there is limited understanding of resiliency and change in families living with low income over time. We conducted a mixed methods study with recent immigrant, other Canadian‐born, and Aboriginal families living with low income, who attended a two‐generation preschool programme (CUPS One World) between 2002 and 2008. The aim of this study was to develop an understanding of the processes of change. We included 134 children...
