Modified images reflecting effects of age ‐related macular degeneration on perception of everyday scenes
ConclusionsVision in people with AMD may not conform to the common depiction of a central region of absolute vision loss. The accurate representations of AMD patients’ vision produced in this study will enable better understanding of the visual consequences of AMD. (Source: Clinical and Experimental Optometry)

Visual problems associated with traumatic brain injury
Traumatic brain injury (TBI) and its associated concussion are major causes of disability and death. All ages can be affected but children, young adults and the elderly are particularly susceptible. A decline in mortality has resulted in many more individuals living with a disability caused by TBI including those affecting vision. This review describes: (1) the major clinical and pathological features of TBI; (2) the visual signs and symptoms associated with the disorder; and (3) discusses the assessment of quality of life and visual rehabilitation of the patient. Defects in primary vision such as visual acuity and visual ...

Optical and pharmacological strategies of myopia control
Recent increases in global myopia prevalence rates have raised significant concerns as myopia increases the lifelong risk of various sight‐threatening ocular conditions. This growing public health burden has generated significant research interests into understanding both its aetiology and developing effective methods to slow down or stop its development, methods collectively termed ‘myopia control’. The growing body of research has demonstrated benefits of various optical and pharmacological treatments resulting in myopia control management increasingly becoming a part of main stream clinical practice. This review w...

Quantitative evaluation of early retinal changes in children with type 1 diabetes mellitus without retinopathy
ConclusionsRetinal neural changes, which can be shown by SD‐OCT, may be present in diabetic eyes even before clinically detectable retinal vasculopathy. Macular and RNFL thickness measurements might be useful indicators for early detection of diabetic retinopathy in the future. (Source: Clinical and Experimental Optometry)

A pragmatic approach to amblyopia diagnosis: evidence into practice
Amblyopia is a common cause of reduced vision in children. The clinical diagnosis is complicated and requires consideration of the severity of vision loss relative to the characteristics of the disrupting amblyogenic factor. Added to the challenge of a thorough examination of very young children, is the weight of consequence if the amblyogenic factor is not identified and treated appropriately within clinically recommended time frames. Further, the poor visual function may be a symptom of more sinister underlying pathology impacting the visual pathway. This review presents an evidence‐based, pragmatic approach to the dia...
