Reduced heart rate variability in remitted bipolar disorder and recurrent depression
Conclusion: Autonomic function during bedtime was impaired in subjects with Bipolar I and recurrent Major Depressive Disorder, despite clinical remission. This has significant implications for the morbidity and mortality of patients with major mood disorders. (Source: Australian and New Zealand Journal of Psychiatry)

Toward a complex system understanding of bipolar disorder: A chaotic model of abnormal circadian activity rhythms in euthymic bipolar disorder
Conclusions and Relevance: Although neuroimaging research has strongly implicated a reciprocal interaction between cortical and subcortical regions as pathogenic in bipolar disorder, this is the first model to mathematically represent this multilevel explanation of the phenomena of bipolar disorder. Childhood adversities: Social support, premorbid functioning and social outcome in first-episode psychosis and a matched case-control group
Conclusion: Childhood adversities may not predict specific premorbid trajectories, but have an effect on global functioning when the psychosis has begun. Perceived support, especially from peers, may be important in the development of psychosis, and those with more adversities may represent a vulnerable subgroup who need more assistance to increase and maintain supportive networks. Decreased long- and short-range functional connectivity at rest in drug-naive major depressive disorder
Conclusion: The findings revealed that anatomical distance decreases long- and short-range functional connectivity strength in patients with major depressive disorder, which may underlie the neurobiology of major depressive disorder. (Source: Australian and New Zealand Journal of Psychiatry)

Experiences of discrimination and positive treatment from health professionals: A national survey of adults with mental health problems
Conclusion: A minority of respondents with mental health problems had experienced discrimination from their healthcare professional, potentially interfering with recovery. Anti-stigma education interventions for healthcare professionals should address how to increase knowledge and understanding of mental health problems, reduce negative attitudes and encourage supportive behaviours. Brain gray matter alterations and associated demographic profiles in adults with autism spectrum disorder: A meta-analysis of voxel-based morphometry studies
Conclusion: These findings confirmed that the neuroanatomical alterations in the fronto-temporal cortices, limbic system and cerebellum in adult individuals with autism were different from the children and young adolescent’s autism. The effects of demographic characteristics on the brain morphological changes allow us to further clarify the neurobiological mechanisms and developmental trajectory in adult population with autism spectrum disorder.
