Hybrid resistance to parental bone marrow grafts in nonlethally irradiated mice
Resistance to parental bone marrow (BM) grafts in F1 hybrid recipients is due to natural killer (NK) cell –mediated rejection triggered through “missing self” recognition. “Hybrid resistance” has usually been investigated in lethally irradiated F1 recipients in conjunction with pharmacological activation of NK cells. Here, we investigated BM‐directed NK‐cell alloreactivity in settings of r educed conditioning. Nonlethally irradiated (1‐3 Gy) or nonirradiated F1 (C57BL6 × BALB/c) recipient mice received titrated doses (5‐20 x 106) of unseparated parental BALB/c BM without pharmacological NK cell activa...

HLA ‐DR/DQ Molecular Mismatch: A prognostic biomarker for primary alloimmunity
This study evaluated 664 renal transplant recipients and correlated HLA ‐DR/DQ single molecule eplet mismatch with serologic, histologic, and clinical outcomes. Compared to traditional HLA‐DR/DQ whole antigen mismatch HLA‐DR/DQ single molecule eplet mismatch improved the correlation with de novo donor‐specific antibody (dnDSA) development (AUC 0.54 versus 0.84) and allowed recipients to be stratified into low, intermediate, and high alloimmune risk categories. These risk categories were significantly correlated with primary alloimmune events including Banff ≥1A T‐cell mediated rejection (p=0.0006), HLA‐DR/DQ ...
