CF and Children
Hello, I am 25 yrs. old and I have been thinking of weather I should or should not have children. I want some input on how it is like raising children while also fighting Cystic Fibrosis. Although I definitely want children, I don't want to feel like I'm being selfish. My main concern is not having the energy or getting too sick at some point where I wont be able to care for my child as I should or would like to. My boyfriend and I have talked about it several times and he is always very supportive. He tells me that if I want children we'll make it happen even if we have to adopt, and if I decide I don't want children he ...

Pregancy and Serious GI Issuses
I am the mom of a very beautiful 26 year old with CF. All of her life she has had really good lung function so that is not an issue however in the past 7 or 8 years she has experienced severe GI issues. I know that she wants to have a baby at some point so my question for any of you out there who may have some of these same issues is were you able to get pregnant and how did the pregnancy go - was there any severe issues while pregnant??? Words of hope? Please
First let me say I know I am incredibly lucky. I am the proud mother of two healthy boys (3yrs and 17 months). My husband and I are, obviously at least carriers or I wouldn't even be seeking advice here. I found out I was a carrier for CF when I was 10 weeks pregnant with my first son in 2010 I tested positive for delta F508. My husband was subsequently tested and he's also a carrier for a different (and much less common) mutation though I don't remember which. We didn't do any prenatal (amnio, cvs) with our first baby. My pregnancy was difficult and scary as at 29 weeks I had a partial placental abruption and was on bed re...

Drugs During Pregnancy
I'm sure this answer is here somewhere but what drugs are allowed and not allowed during pregnancy. I am currently on TOBI Podhaler and alternating that with cayston. I also take Pulmozyme, albuterol and hypertonic saline, as well as azithromycin (500 mg 3x/week), symbicort, flonase. Any info would be appreciated. (Source: Cystic Fibrosis Pregnancy Forum)

Pain in belly during pt
Anyone ever have bad pain in their lower pregnant belly while vesting or coughing? If so, did anything help? It seems similar to what people describe as round ligament pain. This is my 3rd pregnancy so I'm thinking perhaps things are just more 'stretched' out? I remember having occasional episodes of pain during coughing or vesting with previous pregnancies, like a sudden twinge that comes and goes. But nothing like this. This is the same spot every day, and if it begins during a pt session its not going away. Also if I lie down a certain way and cough, I'll get the pain. I'm wondering if its just going to be like this ti...

Effectiveness of IVF -- In regards to a Male CFer and female non-CF
Hello, My boyfriend, Dylan, has CF. We have already been told by a urologist that about 75% of his vas deferens are missing, but have yet to have any more tests done to see if I am a carrier yet. We are not prepared to have children yet, I was just curious how effectively IVF has worked for other people in our situation. (Source: Cystic Fibrosis Pregnancy Forum)

Not sure if they are false and have an appointment with my GYN coming up. Just wanted to know if anyone has any experience with this same issue. Also if anyone has any experience being pregnant while in stage three. Thank you and hope to get some adv...

How long to try to conceive before pushing for action
We have been trying to conceive for six months now. I have been using OPKs and timing intercourse the whole time, as well as using mucinex and preseed consistently, to no avail. My cervical mucus at the time of ovulation is thick, like a glob of rubber cement. My cycle is otherwise normal, my weight is healthy, etc. My lungs are really good…my issues are mostly GI and sinus stuff. CF doc is good with a pregnancy. I am late 20’s, so no one seems concerned about this length of time. I know 6 months is very, so in some ways my brain tells me to suck it up and keep trying. I am not yet upset that it hasn’t happened. Six mo...

Breastfeeding - tobi or cayston?
I posted this on the adult forum too - hoping to get some advice! I just had my baby last week, and I am breastfeeding. I had avoided using Tobi during my pregnancy, but now I would like to start back on it. Has anyone used Tobi (or Tobi podhaler) while breastfeeding? Would you recommend Tobi or Cayston (I've never used Cayston but willing to try it.) Thank you! (Source: Cystic Fibrosis Pregnancy Forum)

Lung function during pregnancy
Hello everyone this is my first post here. I've found lots of info here and now would like to ask for some help. My wife and I have been together for over 5 years now and she happens to be the lucky one to have CF. We have a 2 year old son and when we were blessed to find out we were having a baby, lung function was about as high as could be. This time however, I think we are about 15-20% off of peak lung function. For anyone else who has CF and has been blessed with a baby, is it possible to increase lung function during this early time of pregnancy? With our son, everything went as smooth as can be with only 1 hospital s...
