Berks County, PA, Household Health Survey Data
Data from PHMC’s 2012 Berks County Household Health Survey is now available through the Community Health Database online data tool. PHMC has been conducting the Household Health Survey in southeastern Pennsylvania since 1983. In 2012, PHMC and a network of partners including the Berks County Community Foundation, Reading Health System, St. Joseph Regional Health Network, and the United Way of Berks County collaborated to create a similar data source for Berks County. Use the wizard to generate reports on many variables. This chart shows the number of adults who smoke by insurance status.   (Source: What's New on JEFFLINE)

Blackboard Learn Grade Center Workshops Offered in November
Blackboard Learn is the course management system used on the Jefferson campus beginning this Fall. Although very similar to its predecessor, Pulse, the interface looks different and there are a number of new features that can significantly improve your efficiency. Start Commenting in PubMed with PubMed Commons
NCBI has released a pilot version of a new service in PubMed which allows researchers to post comments on individual PubMed abstracts.  The system is called PubMed Commons. The idea is to “leverage the social power of the internet to encourage constructive criticism and high quality discussions of scientific issues that will both enhance understanding and provide new avenues of collaboration within the community.” To get started, you will need a My NCBI account. Change to Scott Group Study Room Policy: Minimum Is Now Two
Working with the Registrar and campus academic space planning groups, the Scott Library is now allowing a minimum of two students to reserve the 2nd floor student collaboration rooms at all times. Advance reservations (up to a week before the desired date) are strongly encouraged to ensure you are able to use a room when you would like.
