UK Student Paramedic Killed After Ambulance Flips Over
A 31-year-old student paramedic is dead after a collision that caused her ambulance to flip over in the English town Burton-on-Trent, according to a news report. A report on metro.co.uk indicated that the medic was involved in a crash with a BMW 3 Series. Two other ambulance crew members and the driver of the vehicle were hospitalized. One Dead, Three Injured in North Carolina House Explosion
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — A woman has been found dead in the remains of a home leveled by a fire and explosion in North Carolina's largest city. Charlotte Fire Department Battalion Chief Matt Westover told reporters that the woman's body was found Tuesday night, nearly seven hours after the blast was reported by a man trapped in the home. Fire Chief Reginald Johnson said the man was able to tell operators where he was in the home, but didn't say what caused the blast. He was flown to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. East Midlands Ambulance Service said ambulance worker Mark Maddy had his hair pulled out during the attack on Talbot Street in the early hours of 27 January. Facebook Mail Site Evacuated after Possible Sarin Scare
MENLO PARK, Calif. (AP) — A Facebook mail facility near company headquarters was evacuated Monday after a routine check found mail possibly containing the nerve agent sarin. Authorities put the site under quarantine as they conducted additional testing. Four buildings were evacuated and three have been cleared for people to come back in, said Facebook spokesman Anthony Harrison in a statement. Pilot and Nurse Killed in Medical Helicopter Crash in Minnesota
BRAINERD, Minn. (AP) — A medical helicopter crashed Friday at a regional airport in Minnesota, killing a nurse and pilot and injuring a crew member, according to the health care provider that owns the chopper. No patients were on board when the helicopter crashed about 1 a.m. at Brainerd Lakes Regional Airport, according to a statement from North Memorial Health, of Robbinsdale, the hospital that owns the chopper. New York Firefighter Dies After Being Hit by Ambulance
PORT JERVIS, N.Y. (AP) — An upstate New York firefighter has died after an ambulance responding to a call struck him, apparently as he slept in front of a bay door. Port Jervis Police say the unidentified 22-year-old man was hit by a Port Jervis Volunteer Ambulance as it was leaving its building early Sunday morning near the Pennsylvania border.
