Creating Community-Based Service-Learning Opportunities to Address ACGME Competencies: the Stanford Youth Diabetes Coaching Program (Nancy Morioka-Douglas MD, MPH)
Family medicine residency programs can develop sustainable community based, service learning components to their curricula. An example is the Stanford Youth Diabetes Coaching Program which can be used by any residency program to meet ACGME competencies. In this, residencies from around the country collaborate with public high schools to deliver a "train the trainer" program.
