Construction of auditory bombardment therapy program: a pilot study
ConclusionThe present study showed that application of auditory bombardment therapy program in addition to conventional therapy has high significant improvement than conventional therapy alone. (Source: QJM)

Impact of high doses of Statins on testosterone level in males with atherosclerotic coronary artery disease
ConclusionThis study shows that statins reduce testosterone level. This finding does not demonstrate that androgens mediate any health effect of statins, but raises the question as to whether testosterone modulation plays a role in statins' effects on health, particularly among men where testosterone is an important hormone. The value of plasma D-dimer level in predicting no-reflow after primary percutaneous coronary intervention in patients with acute ST segment elevation myocardial infarction
ConclusionD-dimer level on admission independently predicts no-reflow after p-PCI. High D-dimer level on admission has an independent prognostic value. (Source: QJM)

Comparison between preoperative loading dose with Ticagrelor and Clopidogrel on myocardial perfusion during intervention in patients with STsegment elevation myocardial infarction undergoing primary percutaneous coronary intervention
ConclusionTicagrelor loading before primary PCI resulted in improved TIMI flow, MBG but did not decrease incidence of in-hospital MACE. (Source: QJM)

Prediction of Troponin elevation in Non- ST Acute Coronary Syndrome Patients presenting to The Emergency Department Using Neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio
ConclusionNLR can be used as a diagnostic tool in the differentiation of patients with acute coronary syndrome. NLR is a non-expensive, simple and available parameter that can be used in diagnosis of NSTEMI. (Source: QJM)

Effect of high dose statin preloading on TIMI flow in patients presenting with ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction undergoing Primary Percutaneous Coronary Intervention
ConclusionHigh intensity statin loading before primary PCI resulted in improved post-procedural TIMI flow, MBG, complete ST-segment resolution and ejection fraction as measured by M-mode but did not decrease incidence of in-hospital MACE. (Source: QJM)

Echocardiographic Predictors of Atrial Fibrillation after Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting
ConclusionsThere is no significant difference between the two groups regarding conventional echo parameters, TDI& by speckle tracking technique (LA strain& LVGLS %).However, patients who developed POAF were older,& left main lesions are more likely to have left main lesions. (Source: QJM)

Single Centre Experience in Pediatric Pacing
ConclusionImplantation of a pacemaker in children is generally safe. It could be justified to implant the pacemaker to improve the hemodynamic situation in individual patients or to consider biventricular pacing in LV dysfunctiont (Source: QJM)

Echocardiography calcium score as predictive tools of severity of coronary artery disease
ConclusionEchocardiographic calcium score is correlated to syntax score and the severity of coronary artery disease. The low cost, availability and the radiation free nature of echocardiography make it an attractive candidate for the on-going research regarding the non-invasive tools for prediction of CAD. Spirometric Assessment Before and After treatment of Prostatic Hyperplasia in Patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease
ConclusionThere was significant improvement in spirometric values in each group before and after starting treatment, but by comparison between the two groups, there was insignificant change. (Source: QJM)

Outcomes of Peripheral Blood Eosinophilia in Hospitalized Exacerbations of COPD
ConclusionEosinophils can be used as a prognostic marker in non-infective COPD exacerbations. Validity of eosinophil count and percent as a prognostic parameter in COPD exacerbation can be increased by combining with other parameters for example NLR. (Source: QJM)

Role of Capnograghy during weaning from mechanical ventilation in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
ConclusionThe study found that Pa CO2 and PetCO2 are correlated to each other before, during and after SBT. Most of the studies that was found reported that PetCO2 is highly correlated with Paco2 and that PetCO2 may be a rapid and reliable predictor of arterial PaCO2 in respiratory distress. (Source: QJM)

Incidence of Mesothelioma At Imbaba Chest Hospital From 2013 To 2016
ConclusionThe overall incidence of malignant mesothelioma was 1.5% with increasing annual incidence from 1.7% up to 2.3%. The male gender was the more presentable one with gradual growing of female percent. The urban area was more affected than the rural one, specially the area near industries. Non-exposed persons (unemployed industrial workers) showed higher frequency of MM. Right-sided MM was more common than Left one, beside that the epithelial form of MM was the dominant histological pattern. (Source: QJM)

A comparative study between bupivacaine-dexmedetomidine mixture versus bupivacaine-magnesium mixture in Pre-incision skin infiltration for para-umbilical hernia repair regarding their intraoperative and postoperative analgesic effect
ConclusionPre-skin incision wound infiltration with dexmedetomidine –bupivacaine mixture provides prolonged local anesthetic effect, decreases the need for rescue analgesics, and provides better sedation than bupivacaine–magnesium sulfate mixture or bupivacaine alone in patients undergoing surgeries for hernia repair. Effectiveness of Intrathecal Administration of Bupivacaine with Fentanyl versus Nalbuphine for Elective Cesarean Section
ConclusionsWe concluded that either intrathecal nalbuphine (0.8 mg) combined with (10 mg) Bupivacaine or intrathecal fentanyl (25 µg) combined with (10 mg) Bupivacaine improves intraoperative analgesia and prolongs early postoperative analgesia in cesarean section with significantly lower incidence of side effects as shivering, pruritis, nausea and vomit ing in Nalbuphine.
