Recent Trends in the Management of Aneurysmal Bone Cyst
ConclusionThere are recent evolving trends in the management of ABC other than the classic ways of management, they are less invasive, have less recurrence rate reaches to 0 % like with bisphosphonate, less complications rate as well reaches to 0 % like with doxycycline and bisphosphonate, high healing rate reaches to 100 % like with doxycycline and taking in consideration how to handle cases of ABC that classic way of management can ’t handle like spinal ABC. Distal Intra Articular Tibial Fracture Treated by Ilizarov with Ligamentotaxis
ConclusionExternal fixation and ligamentotaxis by either ilizarov or any external fixator is a good and easy method for fixation of distal intraarticulat tibial fracture with few serious complications. due to easy to apply it, less rate of infection, no risk of bleeding since no opening the fracture site, good aligment of the joint, no streaping of the periosteomy that lead to later on good and rapid healing of the fracture. Impact of Different Modalities of Treatment of Hepatorenal Syndrome as Midodrine, Somatostatin analogue, Albumin infusion and Tapping of Ascites on Renal Artery Resistive Index by Doppler ultrasound
ConclusionsLVP and midodrine combination administration resulted in significant decrease in creatinine clearance. Renal artery resistive index has significant correlation with creatinine clearance in studied group and can be used as non-invasive tool. (Source: QJM)

Correlation between Hypervolemia, Left Ventricular Hypertrophy and Fibroblast Growth Factor- 23 in Prevalent Hemodialysis Patients
ConclusionFGF-23 might be a marker of volume overload and LVH in ESRD patients, as it positively correlated with (weight gain, IVS, PW and LVMI). FGF-23 is a marker of bone diseases, as it positively correlated with (PO4)3- and PTH. Volume overload has a negative impact on morbidity and mortality in ESRD patients. (Source: QJM)

Evaluation of plasma M2-Pyruvate Kinase as a novel biomarker in the differentiation between Functional and Organic Colonic Disorders
ConclusionPlasma M2-PK can differentiate between functional and organic colonic disorders as it is more elevated in organic than functional colonic disorders. Also, it is considered a promising rapid noninvasive biomarker for organic colonic disorders early detection and screening to reduce unnecessary endoscopic intervention. (Source: QJM)

Assessment of myostatin in obese males and females with and without fatty liver
ConclusionThis study revealed the association between BMI, gender and elevated myostatin at level of statistically significant value. The majority of the study population reported high range of myostatin were in about 82.5% the range was above the normal values. A large scale, multicentre study to provide strong evidence was recommended. (Source: QJM)

Role of Nail Fold Capillaroscopy as A Method of Early Detection of Atherosclerosis in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus Patients
ConclusionIM thickness and nail fold capillaroscopy could be used as a guiding noninvasive screening tool in patients with SLE to predict the atherosclerosis and CV risk. Nail fold changes is correlated to the atherosclerotic changes happening in SLE patients. These results may lead to a reduction in the number of SLE patients with undiagnosed atherosclerosis and CV risk. Nail fold capillarscopy may also help alleviate the financial and disinfection burdens of radiology units as well as the medical costs associated with atherosclerosis and CV risk. Nail fold capillaroscopy can be used as a screening tool before doing carot...

Effect of hepatitis C eradication with DAA on type II diabetes mellitus control as regard insulin resistance & amp; lipid profile
ConclusionThe overall data of this study show that glycemic control improves in patients with diabetes after DAA induced SVR. Patients not only have an improvement in HbA1c level after achieving SVR, they are also less likely to require insulin. the viral clearance due to DAA also led to an improvement of glucose metabolism associated with a global worsening of lipid profile. The HCV clearance by DAA treatment reverses or improves IR and reduces stress on beta-cell function by emphasizing the role of HCV in the development of IR and that this result can prevent IR-related pathological conditions such as worsening liver fib...

Relationship between Gastroesophageal Reflux and IL-8
ConclusionSerum Interleukin-8 (IL8) level was elevated in patients with refractory GERD more than patients with GERD more than patients of NERD more than normal controls. Pathological features that we found in patients with GERD were moderate reflux oesophagitis (52%) more than mild reflux oesophagitis (40%) more than severe reflux oesophagitis (8%), while in patients with refractory GERD there were severe reflux oesophagitis (56%) more than Barrett's esophagitis (28%) more than moderate reflux oesophagitis (16%). Study of serum Fetuin-A level in pateints with post HCV liver cirhosis with and without hepatocellular carcinoma
ConclusionSerum fetuin-A level is decreasing in post HCV liver cirrhosis and liver cirrhosis with HCC than in healthy control with the lowest level in HCC. Post HCV liver cirrhosis with HCC cases which are not diagnosed by alph-fetoprotein can be captured by Fetuin A and vice versa. Also, the results show no significant correlations of fetuin-A with the CP scores and MELD score in post HCV liver cirrhosis . (Source: QJM)
