Analysis of factors influencing accuracy of ultrasound-based fetal weight estimation
Conclusion: All the studied clinical factors were found to have a limited impact on the overall accuracy of fetal weight estimation. However, the formula selection was found to have a significant impact on the accuracy, with the native population-based formulas being significantly more accurate. Imaging in congenital inner ear malformations & #8212;An algorithmic approach
Abhinav C Bhagat, Jyoti Kumar, Anju Garg, Anjali Prakash, Ravi Meher, Shivali AryaIndian Journal of Radiology and Imaging 2020 30(2):139-148 Malformations of the inner ear are an important cause of congenital deaf-mutism. Arrest in embryologic development of inner ear during various stages gives rise to the variety of malformations encountered. Current treatment options include hearing aids, cochlear implants, and auditory brainstem implants (ABI). With the advent of cochlear implant surgery and ABI, decent functional outcomes can be obtained provided such cases are diagnosed correctly and timely. To that end, high-resolu...

MR evaluation of tongue carcinoma in the assessment of depth of invasion with histopathological correlation: A single center experience
Conclusion: MRI is the imaging modality of choice for evaluation of tongue carcinoma as MRI helps in accurate staging of the tumor using TNM classification which is crucial for optimizing treatment options. The current study shows a high correlation between MRI and histopathological findings regarding thickness of tumor and depth of invasion. MRI and histopathology assessments of tumor spread were equivalent to within 0.5 mm DOI. Estimation of invasion depth using MRI as a preoperative study in oral tongue carcinoma is essential in planning surgical treatment strategies such as the extent of elective neck dissection. Invas...

Cranial nerve schwannoma & #8211; A pictorial essay
Sivaramalingam Geethapriya, Jayaraj Govindaraj, Bagyam Raghavan, Banupriya Ramakrishnan, Rasheed Arafath, Sathyashree Vishwanathan, Murali KrishnaIndian Journal of Radiology and Imaging 2020 30(2):116-125 Schwannomas are peripheral nerve sheath tumours arising from cranial, spinal or peripheral nerves. Most of the schwannomas are benign with the rare possibility of malignant transformation. Cranial nerve schwannomas can be seen along the course of any cranial nerve in the intracranial region or head and neck location. Although a majority are solitary sporadic lesions, multiple schwannomas can be seen in syndromes like neu...

Accuracy of radiologists, nonradiologists, and laypeople for identifying children with cerebral cortical atrophy from & #8220;Mercator map & #8221; curved reconstructions of MRIs of the brain
Conclusion: The high specificity and sensitivity of radiologists validated the technique for distinguishing abnormal scans, regarding cortical pathology. High specificity of laypeople for identifying abnormal brains using Mercator maps indicates that this is a viable communication tool for demonstrating cortical MRI abnormalities of HII in children to laypersons. 18F-FDG PET/CT in cyst infection in autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease
We describe a case of 63-year-old woman with infected cysts in the left kidney, in whom accurate diagnosis was made on FDG PET/CT. FDG PET/CT is an important investigation in patients with fever of uncertain etiology, where renal cyst infection is a possible cause, but other etiologies also need to be ruled out. Hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia of liver: Pathophysiology with role of radiology in diagnosis and treatment
Maheswaran Viyannan, Devanand Balalakshmoji, Venkatakrishnan LeelakrishnanIndian Journal of Radiology and Imaging 2020 30(1):98-101 Hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia (HHT) or Osler–Weber–Rendu syndrome is a rare condition which can result in significant systemic and hepatobiliary abnormalities. Liver involvement in HHT consists primarily of the consequence of various intrahepatic shunts. Even though these vascular shunts are present in the majority of patients with HHT, symptoms occur only in minority with clear predilection to female gender. The symptoms and imaging findings of liver vascula...

Multiple small bowel intussusceptions as a feature of celiac disease
Bhautik Kapadia, Sunil Karshanbhai VatukiyaIndian Journal of Radiology and Imaging 2020 30(1):95-97 Intussusception is commonly associated with celiac disease in adults. However, it is rarely reported in children in radiology journals. Here, we report a case of a 3-year-old girl with celiac disease presented with complaints of intermittent abdominal pain, distension, and vomiting for 6 months. The patient was underweight (8.6 kg). Her X-ray of the abdomen standing revealed abnormal air-fluid levels and ultrasound of the abdomen revealed single small bowel intussusception. Contrast-enhanced CT abdomen done before planning ...

Traumatic intralenticular abscess & #8212;What is so different ?
In this report, we describe a case of posttraumatic lenticular abscess highlighting the characteristic clinical features and their management. Additionally, here we report the first time use of Anterior Segment Optical Coherence Tomography as a diagnostic tool in delineating lens abscess from traumatic cataract which further guide the management and prognosis of the case. Interrupted aortic arch: A case report
We present a case of a 52-year-old woman accessed to the emergency department for chest and right upper limb pain that increased in the last days. She underwent a computed tomography angiogram showing interruption of the aortic arch, distal to left subclavian artery origin, large bilateral collateral vessels connecting subclavian arteries to descending aorta with multiple voluminous aneurysms, a bicuspid aortic valve, dilatated tubular segment of ascending thoracic aorta, and a suspected atrial septal defect. A nonsystematic literature review regarding these conditions has been performed. (Source: Indian Journal of Radiology and Imaging)
