Association between SpO2 and the risk of death in elderly T2DM patients with cerebral infarction: a retrospective cohort study
ConclusionsStriking an optimal balance is paramount, as fixating solely on lower SpO2 limits or neglecting high SpO2 levels may contribute to increased mortality rates. To mitigate mortality risk in elderly T2DM patients with cerebral infarction, we recommend maintaining SpO2 levels within the range of 94.5–96.5%. (Source: Frontiers in Neurology)

Bickerstaff encephalitis in childhood: a review of 74 cases in the literature from 1951 to today
Bickerstaff brainstem encephalitis (BBE) is a rare autoimmune disease characterized by the subacute onset of bilateral external ophthalmoplegia, ataxia, and decreased level of consciousness. BBE is part of a group of rare autoimmune diseases in children that can affect the nervous system at any level. The onset of neurological deficits is often sudden and nonspecific. The diagnosis is based on clinical findings and abnormal findings on cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), electroencephalography (EEG), electromyography (EMG), and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). BBE is associated with the presence of the antiganglioside antibody, an...

Adrenal insufficiency following cerebellar intracranial hemorrhage: a case report
This report presents a case of a previously healthy 58 years-old man who had suffered from persistent weakness and dizziness after a cerebellar intracranial hemorrhage (ICH). Endocrine function tests revealed low levels of plasma cortisol (3.05 μg/dL; normal range: 5–25 μg/dL) and adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) (6.0 pg/mL; normal range: 10–60 pg/mL). The subsequent ACTH stimulation test suggested partial or recent hypopituitarism, resulting in adrenal gland atrophy and a subnormal cortisol response. Ultimately, the dizziness was found to be caused by undiagnosed adrenal insufficiency, which was detected...

Probable secondary hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis manifesting as central nervous system lesions after COVID-19 vaccination: a case report
ConclusionTo date, 23 cases of COVID-19 vaccine-related HLH have been reported. Additionally, HLH in COVID-19 patients has been reported in various case reports. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first reported case of central nervous system involvement in HLH related to any type of COVID-19 vaccine. This case suggests that even when there are no systemic symptoms after COVID-19 vaccination, HLH should be considered as a differential diagnosis if brain lesions are suggestive of CNS demyelinating disease. Cervical impairments in subjects with migraine or tension type headache: an observational study
ConclusionThe findings provide a significant message for clinicians since anatomical and functional impairments were shown in patients with TTH and migraine. This study corroborates a lack of strength and smaller CSA in both clinical groups compared to controls. Therefore, strengthening programs may be addressed successfully for people with these pathological entities. To be more accurate, according to PPTs and CSA lower values in patients with TTH compared to migraine and controls, manual therapy approaches to desensitize craniocervical soft tissues and exercise therapy to increase endurance of deep cervical muscles may b...

Clinical presentation and diagnosis of adult-onset leukoencephalopathy with axonal spheroids and pigmented glia: a literature analysis of case studies
DiscussionIn this literature analysis, ALSP was frequently misdiagnosed. Improving awareness of this condition and distinguishing it from other conditions with overlapping presenting symptoms is important for timely management of a rapidly progressive disease such as ALSP. Therapeutic outcome of patients with Lennox –Gastaut syndrome with mitochondrial respiratory chain complex I deficiency
ConclusionThe overall treatment prognosis—in terms of improvement in traumatic generalized tonic seizure, drop seizure, and EEG findings—is worse in patients with LGS and MRC I deficiency than that in patients with LGS but without MRC I deficiency. Additional and targeted treatment is required to treat LGS with MRC I deficiency. (Source: Frontiers in Neurology)

Causal relationship between telomere length and risk of intracranial aneurysm: a bidirectional Mendelian randomization study
ConclusionThere may exist a potential correlation between longer telomere length and a decreased likelihood of intracranial aneurysms within the European population. The present study offers novel insights into the correlation between telomere length and intracranial aneurysms. Additional research is required to clarify the underlying mechanisms and validate our discoveries in diverse populations. (Source: Frontiers in Neurology)
