Publishing clinical trial results in plain language: a clash of ethical principles?
Curr Med Res Opin. 2024 Feb 14:1-11. doi: 10.1080/03007995.2024.2308729. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTPlain language resources (PLR) are lay summaries of clinical trial results or plain language summaries of publications, in digital/visual/language formats. They aim to provide accurate information in jargon-free, and easy-to-understand language that can meet the health information needs of the general public, especially patients and caregivers. These are typically developed by the study sponsors or investigators, or by national public health bodies, research hospitals, patient organizations, and non-profit organizations. ...

Humanistic burden of mucopolysaccharidoses: a systematic literature review
CONCLUSIONS: This systematic literature review revealed the substantial humanistic burden of individuals affected by MPS as well as caregivers. Significant variation in HRQoL scores was observed, however studies indicate that quality of life of MPS patients is influenced primarily by severity of disease (MPS type and phenotype), and then by time of diagnosis, pain, cognitive involvement, mobility, dependence and time of treatment initiation. Further studies are needed to assess the global humanistic burden of MPS, particularly in MPS III, VI, VII, and IX subtypes, in adults, and for a longer follow-up period. Considering t...

Risk prediction models of mortality after hip fracture surgery in older individuals: a systematic review
CONCLUSION: Subsequent research endeavors should adopt more stringent experimental designs and employ advanced statistical methodologies in the construction of risk prediction models. Moreover, large-scale external validation studies are warranted to rigorously assess the generalizability and clinical utility of existing models, thereby enhancing their relevance as valuable clinical references.PMID:38323327 | DOI:10.1080/03007995.2024.2307346 (Source: Current Medical Research and Opinion)
