Real-world evidence generation from patients, their caregivers and physicians supporting clinical, regulatory and guideline decisions: an update on Disease Specific Programmes
Conclusions: DSPs provide a wealth of RWD in addition to evidence generated by registries, clinical trials and observational research, with wide use for the pharmaceutical industry, government, funding/regulatory bodies, clinical practice guideline insights and, most importantly, informing improvements in people's lives. The depth, breadth and heritage of information collected via DSPs since 1995 is unparalleled, extending understanding of how diseases are managed by physicians in routine clinical practice and why treatment choices are made, patients' perceptions of their disease management and caregiver burden.PMID:379332...

Clinical profiles and outcomes in patients with inflammatory bowel disease receiving standard and escalated doses of targeted therapies: findings from a global real-world study
Conclusion: Dose escalation is not always an effective approach to resolve inadequate or loss of response in UC and CD, highlighting a need for more therapeutic options or alternative treatment strategies in patients unresponsive to TT.PMID:37927078 | DOI:10.1080/03007995.2023.2278695 (Source: Current Medical Research and Opinion)

Curr Med Res Opin. 2023 Oct 28:1-12. doi: 10.1080/03007995.2023.2276120. Hypothyroidism, including subclinical hypothyroidism (SCH) may appear de novo at this time, or existing thyroid disease may become more severe. Accordingly, SCH is a relatively common complication of up to about 3% of pregnancies, with higher rates in some areas. There is strong evidence from systematic reviews and meta-analyses that uncontrolled SCH is associated with an i...

A real-world, retrospective, observational study examining treatment patterns and clinical outcomes in patients with FLT3m  + AML in Japan
CONCLUSIONS: The study found specific treatment patterns, trends and features in patients with FLT3m + AML. FLT3i was the most prescribed treatment across the study period and the overall median OS after initiating FLT3i treatment was over 1 year. The findings of this study could be helpful for clinicians to optimize treatment strategies for FLT3m + AML in Japan.PMID:37881860 | DOI:10.1080/03007995.2023.2271390 (Source: Current Medical Research and Opinion)

Estimating the direct healthcare utilization and cost of musculoskeletal pain among people with comorbidity: a retrospective electronic health record study
CONCLUSION: This study highlights that individuals with painful musculoskeletal conditions have higher healthcare utiliszation and costs than those without painful musculoskeletal conditions. Given the high occurrence of musculoskeletal pain in patients with other conditions, effective management strategies are needed to reduce the burden on healthcare resources.PMID:37853741 | DOI:10.1080/03007995.2023.2271862 (Source: Current Medical Research and Opinion)
