The use of large language models in medicine: proceeding with caution
Curr Med Res Opin. 2023 Dec 13:1-9. doi: 10.1080/03007995.2023.2295411. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTLarge language models, like ChatGPT and Bard, have potential clinical applications due to their ability to generate conversational responses and encode medical knowledge. However, their clinical adoption faces challenges including hallucinations, lack of transparency, and lack of consistency. Ethicolegal concerns surrounding patient consent, legal liability, and data privacy further complicate matters. Despite their promise, an optimistic but cautious approach is essential for the safe integration of large language models ...

The relationship between polypharmacy and physical performance in patients with early-stage Alzheimer's disease
CONCLUSION: Our study demonstrated the association of polypharmacy with poor physical performance in patients with early stage Alzheimer's disease. Prospective long-term studies investigating the relationship of polypharmacy and drug subgroups with physical performance in elderly patients with Alzheimer's disease would be appropriate.PMID:38073464 | DOI:10.1080/03007995.2023.2293109 (Source: Current Medical Research and Opinion)

A matching-adjusted indirect comparison of the efficacy of elranatamab versus physician's choice of treatment in patients with triple-class exposed/refractory multiple myeloma
CONCLUSION: In the MAIC, elranatamab was consistently associated with improved rates and depth of response and significantly longer PFS and OS versus PCT in LocoMMotion and MAMMOTH.PMID:38078866 | DOI:10.1080/03007995.2023.2277850 (Source: Current Medical Research and Opinion)

A confirmatory factor analysis of an electronic format painDETECT questionnaire for patients with low back pain
CONCLUSION: This study confirms the reliability and two-factor structure of the electronic PD-Q for neuropathic pain assessment in low back pain patients. To enhance comprehension of the clinical applicability of the electronic format PD-Q, future research should conduct clinimetric evaluations.PMID:38079336 | DOI:10.1080/03007995.2023.2293570 (Source: Current Medical Research and Opinion)
