The skin as a window to the gut: A case of carcinoid syndrome
We report the case of a 66-year-old woman presenting with chronic diarrhea, facial venous telangiectasia and elevated urinary 5-hydrocyindoleacetic acid levels. A 68-Ga DOTATOC PET/CT scan revealed an ileal mass and lesions consistent with liver, ovary and bone metastasis. A liver biopsy confirmed the diagnosis of well-differentiated NET G1. Therapy with somatostatin analogs achieved symptom control, but the liver disease progressed and the patient passed away after 2  years of follow-up. The challenge of diagnosing CS resides in its heterogeneous manifestations, which may range from mild to life-threatening conditions. ...

Cardiac mass as the primary diagnostic clue of Edheim –Chester disease
Key Clinical MessageWe introduced one of the rare causes of intra-cardiac mass, that is, ECD and a new gene mutation (SLC29A3) that is probably related to this disease, and we noted the importance of using several diagnostic methods to rule out other intra-cardiac causes.AbstractEdheim –Chester disease is a rare histiocytosis affecting multiple organs. The infiltration of lipid-laden histiocytes characterizes the disease. Most patients experience bone involvement; over 50% of cases involve the cardiovascular system and other extra-osseous organs. In this case report, we present the case of a 42-year-old man who complaine...

Such tumors are uncommon in the uterus, especially in adults. Treatment options are based on studies of younger individuals.AbstractRhabdomyosarcoma (RMS) is a malignant mesenchymal neoplasm with a tendency to differentiate into skeletal muscle cells. RMS is an aggressive tumor that tends to develop in children and younger patients. A vast majority of genital tract RMSs occur in the vagina and cervix. Such tumors rarely occur in adults. Migrated subcutaneous sharp foreign body in the anterior chest wall: An unusual presentation
Key Clinical MessageMigration of any foreign body can cause potentially life threatening complications and should be reviewed by a multidisciplinary approach for the management. Diagnosis can be challenging; a history of foreign body injury could be suspicious.AbstractForeign body injury to the chest wall can be an emergency situation and require a multidisciplinary approach for the management of the condition. Migration of the foreign body, though rare, can lead to potentially life threatening complications and require a multidisciplinary approach for the localization of the foreign body and subsequent management of the c...

Successful treatment of refractory prurigo nodularis with abrocitinib
Key Clinical MessagePrurigo nodularis is frequently difficult to manage with conventional therapy. Given the pathogenesis and refractory nature, we demonstrate a case in which inhibition of JAK –STAT signaling may significantly improve prurigo nodularis. Based on the results, we would like to draw a conclusion that abrocitinib as an inhibitor of Jak is a promising choice for the treatment of prurigo nodularis. (Source: Clinical Case Reports)

Cryoglobulinemia vasculitis associated with adult ‐onset Still's disease
Key Clinical MessageThe present case indicates that cryoglobulinemia vasculitis should be considered in the differential diagnosis of purpura in patients with adult-onset Still's disease (AOSD).AbstractThe presence of purpura is suggested in adult-onset Still's disease (AOSD) hematological complications of hemophagocytic syndrome, disseminated intravascular coagulation, or thrombotic microangiopathy. We herein report a case of AOSD complicated by cryoglobulinemia vasculitis presenting with purpura. (Source: Clinical Case Reports)

Pigmented purpuric dermatosis (Majocchi type) in a patient with vitiligo
Key Clinical MessagePigmented purpuric dermatosis is diagnosed clinically and does not require skin biopsy. However, in cases where rashes mimic cutaneous vasculitis, skin biopsies should be done to confirm the diagnosis, especially in patients who have underlying autoimmune disease. Cerebral venous sinus thrombosis due to desogestrel intake in a young lady: A case report
We report the case of a lady aged 25  years, who presented to the emergency department with a severe diffuse headache for 4 days, associated with vomiting. This was followed by multiple episodes of seizures and altered sensorium the previous day. She had been taking desogestrel for the past 2 months. On examination, the patient w as unconscious and febrile (102.8 F). On admission, Glasgow Coma Scale score of E2V2M3 and bilateral extensor plantar response were noted. Signs of meningeal irritation were absent. Her pupils were mid-dilated, sluggishly reactive to light, and papilledema was present bilaterally. Based on...

Do maxillary dentures protect the skull base from penetration injury?
Key Clinical MessageForeign bodies penetrating from the oral cavity can damage surrounding tissues. This case is considered an extremely rare and fortunate instance in which a maxillary denture appeared to weaken the external force and change the direction of the scissors, preventing damage to vital organs.AbstractThe patient was a 73-year-old man. While on a ladder pruning a plant, he accidentally fell. The gardening scissors passed through the maxillary sinus from the maxillary alveolus and penetrated below the zygomatic arch. At the time of injury, the patient was wearing a metal-frame denture on the maxilla, and contac...

Male ‐to‐female and female‐to‐male transsexual siblings with pedophilic father: A case report
Key Clinical MessageThe reported case was the fourth instance of MF-FM transsexual non-twin siblings, and their father had pedophilia. Further studies are needed to evaluate whether there is a genetic link between gender dysphoria (GD) and pedophilic disorder.AbstractGender dysphoria (GD) refers to a persistent incongruence between a person's experienced gender and assigned gender, causing discomfort or distress. Family studies and reports of GD co-occurrence in a family can help clarify whether GD is a familial phenomenon. Experimental study on dimensional variations of 3D printed dental models based on printing orientation
Key Clinical MessageThis research investigates the trueness and precision of 3D printing technology in dental applications, specifically focusing on dimensional variations observed in models printed at different angles. The methodology involved importing a dental model into slicing software, adjusting its orientation, and implementing support structures for stability. Subsequently, the model underwent 3D printing five times for each orientation using appropriate equipment and underwent post-processing steps, including cleaning, washing, and UV-light post-curing. The printed models were then scanned using a specialized desk...
