Targeting RNA modifications with pharmacological agents: New frontiers in cancer therapy
The m6A methylation is catalysed by the writer complex and the demethylation is catalysed by the erasers. Different readers proteins determine the fate of m6A modification. These proteins have increasingly been recognised as targets for cancer therapy. AbstractThe N6-methyladenosine (m6A) RNA modification has gained significant prominence as a new layer of regulatory mechanism that governs gene expression. Over the past decade, various m6A regulators responsible for introducing, eliminating, and recognising RNA methylation have been identified. Notably, these m6A regulators often exhibit altered expression patterns in canc...

Critical survival periods in prostate cancer in Sweden explored by conditional survival analysis
ConclusionsThe data indicate that M1 metastases kill more patients in the first 2.5  years than between years 2.5 and 5 after diagnosis; T4 deaths are equal in the two periods, and in T3 mortality in the first 2.5-year period is lower than between years 2.5 and 5 after diagnosis. Conditional survival could be applied to explore critical survival periods even past 5 years after diagnoses and to monitor success in novel diagnostic and treatment practices. Improvement of survival in elderly patients may require clinical input. (Source: Cancer Medicine)

Construction and validation of artificial intelligence pathomics models for predicting pathological staging in colorectal cancer: Using multimodal data and clinical variables
ConclusionThe combined model and nomogram, which integrate pathomics multi-modal data and clinical-pathological variables, demonstrated superior performance in distinguishing between Stage I –II and Stage III colorectal cancer. This provides valuable support for clinical decision-making and may improve treatment strategies and patient prognosis. Furthermore, the use of immunohistochemistry (Ki67) slides for pathomics modeling outperformed HE slide, offering new insights for future pat homics research. (Source: Cancer Medicine)

Exosomal miR ‐1470 is a diagnostic biomarker and promotes cell proliferation and metastasis in colorectal cancer
ConclusionThis suggested that non-invasive diagnosis of CRC is possible by detecting the level of miR-1470 in exosomes, which has important implications for early detection and treatment of this disease. (Source: Cancer Medicine)

Effect of galectin ‐1 on prognosis and responsiveness of immune checkpoint plus tyrosine kinase inhibition in renal cell carcinoma
ConclusionsHigh galectin-1 indicated therapeutic resistance and shorter PFS of IO/TKI therapy. High galectin-1 also indicated CD8+ T cell dysfunction. High galectin-1 could be applied for patient selection of IO/TKI therapy in RCC. (Source: Cancer Medicine)

Exploring resonance theory and uncontrollability during co ‐creative art making: A qualitative study among cancer patients
ConclusionsIntegration of experiences of contingency into a life narrative can be supported by the process of co-creation of art, which invites patients to relate to their illness, their environment and themselves. The phases of resonance in combination with uncontrollability as a continuously present factor, provide a means to both study and support the integration of experiences of contingency into the life narrative. Comparison of the multiples of the median of serum anti ‐müllerian hormone and pregnancy outcomes in patients with gestational trophoblastic disease: A case–control study
ConclusionThis study showed combination chemotherapy led to a decreasing trend of MoM of serum AMH especially at 12  months after treatment, but the drop became static at 24 months. Although pregnancy is achievable, thorough counseling is still needed in this group especially those wish to achieve pregnancy 1–2 years after treatment or with other risk factors. The death burden of colorectal cancer attributable to modifiable risk factors, trend analysis from 1990 to 2019 and future predictions
ConclusionsThe attributable CRC death burden gradually shifted from higher SDI to lower SDI regions. The limitation in males was more significant, and the gap is expected to be further expanded. In lower SDI regions, the death burden tended to affect younger people. The leading cause of CRC-attributable deaths was the inadequate control of dietary and metabolic risk factors. A longitudinal study of symptom cluster latent profiles in ovarian cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy
ConclusionsThis study underscores the existence of a diverse and heterogeneous experience within the symptom cluster of fatigue, pain, and sleep disturbance among ovarian cancer patients. Importantly, these patterns were stable throughout chemotherapy. Recognizing and understanding these patterns can inform the development of targeted interventions to alleviate the burden of symptom clusters in this population. (Source: Cancer Medicine)

Early detection of nasopharyngeal carcinoma through machine ‐learning‐driven prediction model in a population‐based healthcare record database
ConclusionsML approaches using electronic medical records accurately predicted NPC occurrence. The risk prediction model serves as a low-cost digital screening tool, offering rapid medical decision support to shorten prediagnostic periods. Timely referral is crucial for high-risk patients identified by the model. (Source: Cancer Medicine)

The feasibility and acceptability of an app ‐based intervention with brief behavioural support (APPROACH) to promote brisk walking in people diagnosed with breast, prostate and colorectal cancer in the UK
ConclusionsThis pilot study demonstrates that a large trial of the brisk walking intervention with behavioural support is both feasible and acceptable to people LWBC. The results support progression onto a confirmatory phase III trial to determine the efficacy and cost-effectiveness of the intervention. (Source: Cancer Medicine)

Retrospective analysis of clinical characteristics and outcomes of patients with carcinoma of unknown primary from three tertiary centers in Australia
ConclusionsIn this real-world cohort, CUP presentations were heterogenous. Overall survival and rates of systemic treatment were poor. Poor performance status and unfavorable risk were associated with worse survival. For most patients, site-specific therapy did not improve survival outcome. Improved and timely access to diagnostic tests and therapeutics for this group of patients is urgently required. (Source: Cancer Medicine)
