Disseminated Mycobacterium simiae manifested as IRIS: A case report

Infection from M. simiae is more common in immunocompromised patients. It can also present as immune reconstitution inflammatory syndrome in HIV infected subjects after initiation of highly active antiretroviral therapy. Here, we report a case of a middle aged lady infected with HIV, who presented with fever and cough after switch to second-line antiretroviral therapy, found to be infected with M. simiae.
