Effects of Rapid Weight Loss after Bariatric Surgery on Prevention of Pulmonary Hypertension Measured by the Pulmonary Artery Diameter and Its Ratio to the Ascending Aorta Diameter

The pulmonary artery diameter (PAD) and its ratio with the ascending aorta diameter (PAD/AoD ratio) are predictors of pulmonary hypertension (PH). Severe obesity increases the risk of PH due to its association with left ventricular dysfunction and obstructive sleep apnea. The aim of this study was to identify changes in the PAD and PA/AoD ratio after bariatric surgery (BaS) using chest computed tomography (CT).
