Did We STOP-IT? a Population-Based Interrupted Time Series Analysis of Antimicrobial Duration for Intra-abdominal Infections Before and after the Publication of a Landmark Randomized Controlled Trial
In May 2015, the STOP-IT randomized controlled trial showed equivalent outcomes between short-course (four days following source control) and clinically-determined antimicrobial duration for complicated intra-abdominal infection (CIAI). We aimed to quantify the effect of this trial on antimicrobial prescribing for CIAI in Calgary, Alberta.
