Treatment of Perforated Appendicitis: An Institutional Review

Choice of treatment in perforated appendicitis has been debatable and no strict guidelines were recommended regarding the time of intervention particularly in regards to surgery. The choice of surgical vs non-surgical management depends on the clinical presentation of the patient, presence of abscess or phlegmon, amenability of the patient to surgery, surgeon ’s clinical judgment of when to intervene.
