Targetable Action Points to Enhance Surgical Decision-Making
Framed often as an objective process, decision-making for surgery has been shown to be highly variable. Modern theories describe the use of heuristics, or mental shortcuts, that facilitate quick judgments but can be vulnerable to bias. In this context, we sought to explore the processes, heuristics, and determinants in surgical decision-making to identify potential action points for decision support.
