Simultaneous mandibular movement and EMG analysis during habitual masticatory movement in patients with mandibular protrusion and deviation

Conclusion The DG exhibited more unstable incisal paths than the NDG, and the early onset of masseter and temporal muscle activity observed in the DG patients during mouth closing might have been an attempt to compensate for their unstable incisal paths. This strategy might have been initiated based on information regarding the instability of the terminal position of the closing horizontal incisal path provided by periodontal sensory receptors.
