NJ Firehouse Shuts Down Amid COVID-19 Exposures at Holiday Gathering

According to a report from NJ.com, operations at Fire Station No. 2 in Verona, New Jersey, have been “temporarily suspended” after several members were exposed to COVID-19 during an unauthorized gathering at station, said township manager Matthew Cavallo. Cavallo’s statement did not say when the party was held or how many people attended. He was not immediately available for comment Tuesday morning. Cavallo also stated that every exposed member is required to quarantine pursuant to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and state health department guidelines. The fire department is now working with the town’s Office of Emergency Management, the Montclair (NJ) Health Department, and township officials on implementing a plan to return to full service, which will “include measures to avoid future exposure incidents,” said Cavallo.
