URMC Study Tests if COVID-19 Convalescent Plasma Can Treat, Prevent Infection

URMC is joining two national clinical trials testing whether transfusions of plasma from recovered COVID-19 patients (also called convalescent plasma) can prevent infection in healthy volunteers or speed recovery in people with mild COVID-19 infections. The trial will enroll 28 local volunteers: 9 healthy volunteers who are at high risk of infection – like frontline healthcare workers – and 18 people with mild-COVID-19.
