Post-operative aspartate aminotransferase levels independently predict mortality after isolated coronary artery bypass grafting

Conclusion AST levels within 48hours after CABG independently predict mortality and morbidity but not the latter, were adjusted for hsTnT. Although AST rise is not specific to myocardial necrosis, it remains useful for prognosis in cardiac surgery.
