Delayed recovery of kidney function in a multiple myeloma patient treated with high cut-off hemodialysis: A case report

We present a case of a 68-year-old woman with dialysis dependent acute kidney injury secondary to multiple myeloma. The treatment consisted of plasma exchange, 10 sessions of high-cut-off hemodialysis and induction chemotherapy. Free light chain concentration (FLC) was reduced from 1900mg/l to 584mg/l (a 70% reduction). Recovery of kidney function was observed 3 months after hospital admission and discontinuation of dialysis was possible. The case is quite unusual because of the delay in renal recovery.
