U.S. Government Issues RFI for Solutions to Combat Coronavirus (COVID-19)

To counter the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the Joint Program Executive Office for Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Defense (JPEO-CBRND) has directed the Medical CBRN Defense Consortium (MCDC) to issue a request for information (RFI) for solutions involving diagnostics/monitoring, surveillance and screening devices, information systems, point-of-care devices, therapeutics, prophylactics, and clinical trials. The submitted solutions will be considered for federally funded research and development projects, the MCDC reported. The MCDC was formed to support the Department of Defense’s (DoD) medical pharmaceutical and diagnostic requirements for military personnel mission effectiveness. Companies that are part of the U.S. industrial base (including new and emerging non-traditional defense contractors) are encouraged to join the MCDC, but membership in the consortium is not required to respond to this RFI. All researchers are invited to respond as soon as possible to the RFI with solutions, according to the MCDC. MD+DI reached out to confirm that researchers from medical device and diagnostics companies could submit ideas.
