No Trains in this Small Town Today…

Maggie and I slept in this morning somewhat and then we walked all the way down to the West Point railway depot after breakfast.  Breakfast was cheese toast and some of the better grits I have cooked in awhile – stick to the spoon kind of grits and oh so buttery and creamy. I kept thinking surely some trains will pass by soon then I realized it was a holiday, Veteran’s Day, as I sat on the bench behind the bank. Duh!  It was a long walk back home feeling dejected and denied.  We did stop by Circle K and get us some snacks.  I got two Big Mama pickled sausages, a SoBe citrus energy drink, and Maggie got two small Slim Jims. I noticed Merl’s Diner was open on the walk home and I almost bought a hamburger plate. It sure was tempting, but Charlie is grilling ribeye steaks tonight.  The only store I stopped in beside Circle K was Family Dollar. I got some more toothpaste and some more shampoo. I love apple scented shampoo. The folks at our Family Dollar are always so courteous as well. On the way home, I called my father to ask where the Deli was in West Point.  He told me it was on the main drag across the street from the jewelry store. “Weren’t those chicken salad sandwiches really good?” he asked. “I want an encore,” was what I told him very excitably. “I could’ve very easily eaten two.” Addendum… I just drove over to my parent’s house for my sodas and daily pack of cigarettes.
