Auburn? After Five? Ah Hell! Let’s Go…

“Do you think we could go ahead and drive to Auburn this afternoon?” my mother asked frettingly late in the day yesterday. “My books have come in.” It was almost five in the afternoon. “It is getting late and you know I have trouble driving after dark because of glare,” I replied worriedly. “We will hurry and I will get you home!” she exclaimed. Moments later my mother pulled up in front of my house. “Your daddy is going to jump all over me,” mom said as I sat down in the driver’s seat. “He says you and I are doing too much lately.” Well, that set us upon yet another journey to the bookstore and to Sonic for treats. I also got another two hamburgers from Jim Bob’s to eat today as well since I will not have my Helen to-go meals this weekend. Mom bought five books and ordered five more. Books-a-Million has a whole merchandise row just devoted to upscale headphones and iPod accessories which draws me like a moth to a flame.  “What are you doing in Best Buy?” my mother then asked inquisitively as I drove us down to the other end of the shopping center. “I am buying a game I’ve been wanting,” I told her. “Skyrim: Legendary Edition. I am going to escape into the world of Morrowind for a few weeks.” Mom and I contentedly drank our large chocolate shakes on the drive home up the interstate as the sun set behind us.
