Chad Has Departed From Amongst Us…

CHAMBERS COUNTY, Ala. - A Lanett man has died after a single-vehicle crash early Sunday morning. The crash occurred at about 1:30 a.m. on Chambers County 299, seven miles south of Lanett. Michael Chadwick Roberts, 40, was killed when the 2002 Chevrolet 1500 he was driving ran off the road and struck a tree. Roberts was not wearing a seat belt and was transported to UAB Hospital in Birmingham, where he later died from his injuries. Alabama State Troopers say speed was a factor and the circumstances surrounding the crash are still under investigation. Chad was a very good friend of mine. His death kind of yanked the chair right out from under me this week. It was like I got sucker punched and it knocked the wind straight out of my chest. We were best friends in High School and we were chatting just the other night on Facebook. He wanted to know what my aspirations for life were. He died about 1:30 early Sunday morning.  I have no doubts that alcohol was involved.  Chad and I lived together for six months in a trailer I was renting and we were both heavy drinkers.  Chad also suffered from a myriad of mental illness symptoms as well. He was later diagnosed as bipolar.
