T1D for a Day

By Web Team Want to know what it's like to live with Type 1 diabetes every day? Then you'll want to check out the "T1D for a Day" campaign from JDRF, with support from Lilly Diabetes. As part of the campaign, you will receive up to 45 text messages over a 24-hour period from professional snowboarder Sean Busby simulating the blood glucose monitoring, injections, and decisions that people with Type 1 encounter on a daily basis. Sean has had Type 1 diabetes for nine years. According to JDRF, "Each of his messages will show you what it’s like to manage the blood glucose testing, insulin injections, and dietary choices that T1D requires every day." For a more thorough look at the campaign, click here. Participation in T1D for a Day is free, but standard messaging rates apply. Full terms and conditions of the program are available here. To sign up for the campaign, text T1D4ADAY to 63566. You will receive a confirmation text to complete your registration. If you sign up before November, the challenge will begin on the morning of November 1. If you sign up any day in November, the challenge will start within an hour of registering. To spread the word about T1D for a Day on social media, use the hashtag #T1D4aDay. This blog entry was written by Web Editor Diane Fennell. ------------------------ Copyright (C) 2013 R.A.
