Mascola, M.D., an internationally recognized expert on HIV vaccine development, has been named the new director of the Vaccine Research Center (VRC) at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), part of the National Institutes of Health. In this role, he will lead a comprehensive research program aimed at the design, development and testing of candidate vaccines against HIV/AIDS, influenza and other globally important infectious diseases.”  Read the NIH press release.
