Gravity, sex, and harassment...

George in a much better sci fi movie than Gravity (i.e. Solaris)Gravity sucks. Yeah, I know, I'm probably the millionth person to blog that, but it's still true. That movie sucks so comprehensively that Sir. James Dyson wants to patent it. Sure, the film looked pretty, but beyond that? The script script was terrible. The dialogue was completely underwhelming, and I don't think there was a line of subtext that went unspoken. The paper on which the script was written was probably thicker than the depth of the two main characters, which proved beyond the efforts of both George (I can call him George because by Hollywood standards we're practically best mates) and Ms. Bullock to portray in anything resembling a compelling manner. And don't get me started on how this movie expected to be taken seriously after ripping off a plot device from a $%&#@*! Pixar cartoon!It turns out, though, that what  turned off the movie from the start was the behavior of George Clooney's character, Matt Kowalski, whom I'll now refer to as Buzz Lightyear. I think about two thirds of Buzz Lightyear's lines in that damn movie were dedicated to sexually harassing Sandra Bullock's character, Ryan Stone. Of course, it's all meant in an affable, just-joshing-around, endearing, I-don't-really-want-to-get-into-your-space-suit-babe-I'm-just-playin'-around kinda way that no woman has any real reason to be sensitive about, &c, &c.
