Celebrate What Is

It’s odd.  Sometimes we need to hear our own words. “Instead of worrying about what I expect it to be, I learned to be grateful for what is.” Eliz Greene Recently, I had the pleasure of being a guest on The Shut Up Show discussing fear and the moment you decide to shut up and move on.  In daily life, I don’t spend much time thinking about what happened to me nearly 13 years ago, but hosts Phil Gerbyshak and Berni Xiong challenged me to share deeply. Watch the interview here: Navigating the busy days, it is easy to lose sight of the good stuff.  How much time do you spend thinking about the things that didn’t go as you expected rather than enjoying what is going well?  I do it. One of the big lessons I learned from my heart attack and recovery is the importance of celebrating what IS. No, the first months with our daughters weren’t anywhere close to what we expected, yet, both of us were there.  Our girls got to have two parents.  That was a reason to celebrate. My vision of motherhood involved a lot more dress up and tea parties, and less ‘stop that’ but our girls are growing into wonderful young women – something to celebrate. My body doesn’t function quite the way it used to, but I can still sail and walk with my husband.  I can do yard work and challenge myself – reasons to celebrate.
