Publication date: March 2020Source: Colloid and Interface Science Communications, Volume 35Author(s): Nida Khan, Deepak Kumar, Pramendra KumarAbstractGuar gum/Gelatin/Silver nanocomposite (GG/Gl/Ag-N-composite) was synthesized thoroughly in greenway via simple in situ method by maltose sugar reduction using the varying concentration of AgNO3 solution. The synthesized composite was characterized by Fourier Transform Infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) and X-rays diffraction (XRD) analysis. The synthesized composites were tested for antibacterial activity performed by well diffusion method using tetracycline as reference drug. The GG/Gl/Ag-N-composites were ascertained to exhibit outstanding antibacterial property against both Gram-positive Staphylococcus aureus and Gram-negative Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. It was found that the sample GG/Gl/Ag-N3 exhibited maximum antibacterial activity [zone of inhibition against E.Coli,(14.5 mm) S. aureus (14.5 mm) and P Aeruginosa (15 mm)] among all synthesized composite samples.Graphical abstract
