September 27 is National Gay Men’s HIV/AIDS Awareness Day

On September 27, AIDSinfo joins the nation in observing National Gay Men’s HIV/AIDS Awareness Day, which serves to highlight the continuing toll of the HIV/AIDS epidemic among gay men. Gay and bisexual men are more severely affected by HIV than any other group in the United States. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men (MSM) represent approximately 2% of the U.S. population but accounted for 63% of all new HIV infections in 2010.
