Management of prosthetic joint infection

Its management continues to be a major challenge for clinicians, patients, and healthcare providers with significant clinical and financial impacts. Effective management should follow a multidisciplinary approach using the best available evidence, as the combination of correct individualized diagnosis, surgical strategy and antibiotic therapy has been shown to have the highest success rates in the eradication of infection and ensure a favourable clinical outcome. The purpose of this review is to provide the reader with the current knowledge in the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment strategies of PJI.
