Screening Test for Ovarian Cancer Shows Potential In Study

Researchers at MD Anderson Cancer Center may have discovered a screening method for ovarian cancer that may benefit all women. Currently, there is no screening test available recommended for use for the general population; only women who are at high risk or have been diagnosed with the disease are screened with the CA-125 tumor marker test.  CA-125 (cancer antigen-125) is a protein found at elevated concentrations in ovarian cancer cells that is released into the bloodstream.
