Publication date: Available online 13 December 2019Source: The Arts in PsychotherapyAuthor(s): Amanda Bechtel, Laura L. Wood, Laura TeoliAbstractOn a daily basis individuals are confronted with overt and covert messaging about their bodies, appearance, and functioning. This paper explores these social narratives and presents a narrative protocol on an 8 -h workshop in which participants constructed life-sized body sculptures made from packing tape and processed their experiences using drama therapy techniques. The final product was then displayed in a public forum to engage the public, where viewers could respond to the installation and consider their own personal body narrative.
