#15 What Is a Practice Charter And Why Should I Have One? [Pediatric Practice Management AwesomeCast]

I often reference our Company Charter. This is a document that spells out our mission, our values, and what we must do as an organization to achieve our mission. Practices use charters in different ways.  But for us, our charter was created as a blue print for the practice’s actions and behavior. In the same way that an architect might prepare drawings of a structure for the purpose of design, planning, estimating, and actual construction, our charter describes the plan for delivering on our mission. At the PCC User’s Conference Susanne Madden from the Verden Group gave a talk about practice charters, why you would want to create one, and what are the questions one ought to ask to begin the process. The session was well received. Susanne later told me that she received a lot of questions regarding the charter, the process of setting one up and things like that. Consequently, Chip and I thought it would be a great idea to have Susanne on our Awesome-Cast to discuss this topic a little further as well as provide some insight from my perspective considering we worked with Susanne a few years back on our very own charter. So if you are interested in learning what this practice charter business is all about, check out the our AwesomeCast.
